Institutional relations and interest representatives

The Unipol Group operates in a highly regulated environment at the national, European, and international levels and supports open, responsible, and transparent discussions on issues that may influence or may be influenced by its activities, contributing to the understanding of technical, economic, market, and industry-wide dynamics.

The Group continuously monitors the evolution of public policies and of the relevant regulatory framework and participates in policy-making processes through advocacy and interest representation activities conducted consistently with its values, strategic goals, and sustainability commitments, promoting constructive engagement with institutions and providing public decision-makers with reliable, verifiable, and up-to-date information.

Policy influencing and interest representation activities are governed by corporate policies and procedures aimed at ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, the Code of Ethics, the Charter of Values, and the principles of integrity, fairness, and transparency. The Institutional & Public Affairs Department is responsible for overseeing institutional relations and policy influencing activities. This department ensures a unified and coordinated approach in interactions with institutions, regulatory and supervisory authorities, trade associations, and other relevant stakeholders, working in conjunction with Group companies and the relevant units.

The Unipol Group does not finance political parties, their representatives, or candidates, either in Italy or abroad, nor does it sponsor conferences or events aimed exclusively at political propaganda. To this end, it does not make contributions or expenditures for political campaigns or causes, political or lobbying organizations, trade associations, or other tax-exempt groups, as defined in its Organization and Management Policy.

The Group is a member of several professional and trade associations. Since 2015, the Unipol Group has no longer been a member of the National Association of Insurance Companies (ANIA).

The Unipol Group has been listed in the European Union Transparency Register since 2014 and in the Chamber of Deputies’ Register of Interest Representatives since 2017.

Over time, the Unipol Group has promoted initiatives and think tanks dedicated to discussing various issues of public interest. This includes Welfare, Italia, a permanent platform for engagement activities and the sharing of ideas. Its goal is to contribute to the definition of a welfare vision that supports the country’s social and economic development trajectories, inclusiveness, and responses to citizens’ needs, leveraging the contributions of the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

In the area of mobility, the Group has launched The Urban Mobility Council, a think tank dedicated to analysing new mobility models and their technological, economic, industrial, and cultural impacts through structured engagement between institutional stakeholders, academia, and the private sector. It is supported, among other things, by scientific studies based on the analysis of anonymous and aggregated data provided by the Unipol Group.

Lastly, on the topic of natural risks, the Group has promoted the Natural Risk Forum, a platform for discussion between institutions, the scientific community, and the private sector, aiming to stimulate strategic reflection on natural catastrophe risks and their related social, economic, and production impacts. It fosters an integrated approach to risk management and strengthening of the country’s resilience.
