For the ninth edition of das – experimental artistic dialogues CUBO, the corporate museum of the Unipol Group (in the two Bologna locations in Porta Europa and Torre), presents Pointing Nemo. Beyond Space, Toward the Abyss, a solo exhibition by IOCOSE dedicated to NewSpace, the movement that proposes the colonization of space as the only possible future for humanity. An ambitious dream, however, that reintroduces a colonialist logic of exploiting unexplored territories, fueling an anthropocentric idea of space conquest.
The exhibition project by IOCOSE, an artistic collective active since 2006 in the critical analysis of the rhetoric of technological innovation and the myths of progress, looks at the space race with irony, unmasking its contradictions and questioning the idea of space as a new frontier of salvation for humanity, shining a light on the economic dynamics and ecological balance of the planet.
The title is a reference to Point Nemo, the most remote point in the Pacific Ocean, where the remains of space missions end up.
The exhibition, curated by Federica Patti, presents historical works and new productions, previewed for das on the occasion of Art City 2026.
