The monologue, loosely based on Dostoevsky’s “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man,” is the story of a prostitute, of a woman and her pain, silent pain, cleverly concealed from the eyes of the world that sees and pretends not to see. A world ready to judge without asking too many questions, without trying to go beyond the facade, beyond the stereotype. RIDICOLA is a woman who is always hungry, hungry for everything she lacks. Hungry for love, she searches for a reason to live in the emptiness of her existence.
The encounter with “the other” and the discovery that a different view of the world is possible, one that is free from fear and prejudice, where the word love reaches its highest meaning, will be life-saving.
